The much awaited URBAN SPACE 2 is a let’s say different collection of 20 houses.
“They are a critical response to the simplified construction methods which got strained away from the specific architectural standards and cultural values. In a world which offers oversimplified living solutions because of economic calculations and standardisation we put an accent on the diversity of the living spaces. We focused on the quality of the exterior spaces, the flexible limit between private and participative. The multiple degrees of the building’s transparency contribute to the local identity of the project.”
BARBU MUMULEANU 14 SECTOR 2
The space is built on the quiet Barbu Mumuleanu road, at no.14. The street is a succession of long narrow lots mainly occupied by gardens.
“The seven big blocks of houses sit along a far-reaching garden, similar to how local houses share the same yards along the road. They have a fragmented contour, imprecise, less open to street level and more open to that puzzling core which often hides in Bucharest’s streets.
Inside then, the houses shelter: overlaid and adjacent living spaces, with distinct entrances, porches, gardens, terraces or just open niches towards the front garden, the west garden or the intimate garden in the back. Between these gardens lie all the spaces and their rooms, opening their windows and doors to both, lit by the morning as well as the evening sun, each one getting used to its own orientation and vicinity.”
Arh. Andrei Serbescu – ADNBA
We like to call them “houses on top of each other” – 20 totally unique apartments. Each one is different through both its placement and it’s interior layout. All of them have a east-west orientation: the duplex spaces with 3 or 4 rooms and private gardens on the ground floor, smaller studio and 2 rooms apartments on the second level with access from the common entrance and bigger apartments with generous terraces on the 3rd and 3′ floor.
The finishing leaves no room for compromise: tripane window woodwork, mineral wadding insulation, special plasters, exterior deck and cementine, oak triple layered floors, apparent concrete, individual air conditioning, completely fitted bathrooms.
Come by and see them with your own eyes.
The common spaces is the core of all the living units. From the ground floor garden each apartment has an individual entrance through its own sunroom. The common suspended entrance, with private inlets for each apartment, is the point of junction with the apartment on the upper floors.
All of these spaces form the narrative for an unique kind of living – a place of coming together and hanging out and the expression of a tightly knit community,
All the spaces in Urban Spaces Mumuleanu are sold out! But please take a look at our next projects. We are looking forward to your visit!
